Personalization FAQ

My text is running into the design of the card. How can I move it?

To move your text out of the design or graphic, simply hover your mouse over your text, click on the text and drag your mouse to the area that you'd like the text to start.

How do I move just one line, rather than all of my text?

When you preview your text, the "Move All At Once" button will be prefilled. This is located below the area in the preview where you entered your text. To move a line of text individually, un-check the "Move All Text At Once" radio button by clicking the square check box. Then hover your mouse over the line you'd like to move, click on the line you'd like to move and drag it with your mouse to the desired location.

How do I reset what I've done?

If you need to reset what you've done, you have two options. You can click on the "Undo Changes" button, which will bring you back to the original preview you created or just hit the "Clear All" button which will clear all of the entered text on the card for you, causing you to restart your text.

If I've created this online preview, can I forgo ordering a proof?

Absolutely. When you create and save a preview our typesetters will view it before typesetting your card. If you feel comfortable with your preview, you do not have to order a proof. However, the proof option is available to you always and is strongly suggested for large orders.

The @ symbol is not showing up on my preview. What do I do?

Some fonts do not come available with certain characters or symbols. When choosing a font, if you click the brown link, "View Font Options", you will be able to view what fonts have certain symbols. If you choose a font that does not have the @ symbol and you type in your email address, we will do our best to catch it and use a different font for the @ sign. However, it is ultimately your responsibility to note to us in the special instructions that your symbol is not showing up in the preview, or pick a font that has the characters needed.

All my text is the same size. How do I make lines larger or smaller?

After you have typed in your text, you can choose a font size on the drop down arrow to the right of where you entered your text. Each line will pre-fill with the same size and can be altered to your liking.

I want 2 fonts on my card. How do I tell you which line is in which font?

To choose your fonts, click the font drop down arrow at the top of the preview box. The first font, style 1, should be your main body text. The second font, style 2, should be a different font for us to use on the desired lines. ALL lines of text will pre-fill with the style 1 font. In the left column, change the # to the left of your text box to 2 for the lines you'd like in the second font.

What do I do if I have made a lot of changes and just want it back to the way I originally had it?

At the bottom left of the white preview box you will see a red outlined "undo all changes" button. Click this and your preview will go back to what you originally saw when you last saved your text.

How do I save my preview?

At the bottom right of the white preview box you will see a green and white "Save and Continue" button. Click this and we will save your preview for our typesetters to view prior to typesetting your order. After hitting the "Save and Continue" button, you will be redirected to the item ordering page. Please give it a few seconds to reload the page with all of your updates.

Will my order look exactly like my online saved preview?

We will do our best to typeset your text like your preview as long as you have selected the "Use my Layout" button. Sizing, spacing and layout may need to differ slightly due to printing margins, graphics or details on the card, etc.

Can I have more than one ink color?

Yes. Just choose each different ink color in the style 1 and style 2 options and then coordinate each line with the corresponding color and style #.

If I hit "Save and Continue" how long does my work save? Will I lose it if I exit your website before placing an order?

When you hit "Save and Continue" your work is saved for that ordering session only. If you were to close out of our website or move to another item before hitting "add to cart" you would lose the work you did. The "Save and Continue" button does NOT save your preview into your account.

My text is previewing over my photo. How do I move it?

To move your text out of the photo area, simply hover your mouse over your text, click on the text and drag your mouse to the area that you'd like the text to start.

How do I upload my photo(s)?

Scroll down to the bottom of the online preview webpage. In the bottom left corner you will see a section that says "Manage your Photos". Click on the green "Add Photo" button to begin photo uploading.

How do I crop my photo?

To edit your photo, click on the brown and white "Edit Photo" button located below your photo thumbnail. Your photo will appear with green boxes in each corner. Move the green box up or over to begin to crop your photo. The size of the cropping box is determined by the amount of space for your photo on the card. Once finished, click on the green and white "Save My Photo" button.

Can I make the photo crop area larger?

The size of the cropping box is determined by the amount of space for your photo on the card. It cannot be altered.

How do I change my color tone/hue?

To edit your photo, click on the brown and white "Edit Photo" button located below your photo thumbnail. Below your photo you will see a grey box that says "Photo Effects". Click on the desired photo color tone. Once finished, click on the green and white "Save My Photo" button.

How do I reset my photo to the original I submitted?

To reset your photo click on the red and white "Original Photo" button located in the "Photo Effects" box. This will return your photo to what you originally uploaded to our website.

Personalization FAQ

Why are you asking me to review my online preview after I have saved it?

This final view of your preview is to give you one last chance to make changes to your preview and text before your order is submitted.

How do I make changes after seeing my final online preview?

Click on the orange and white "Return to Personalize" button. This will take you back to the customizing screen and you can make any edits you'd like. Make sure you click "Save and Continue" when you are finished.

My card is not being used as an invitation. Do I still select that the names/dates/times are correct even if they are not on my card?

The check points in the Review section are to ensure your text is correct, whether you have ordered a greeting card, invitation, announcement or stationery. Please select all boxes after completely reviewing your text.

Some of my text doesn't fit on my online preview. How do I give you the extra lines?

Your extra lines of text can be entered in the special instructions box to the right of your preview. These lines of text will be added to your card by our professional typesetters in an appropriate design to coincide with the remainder of your text. If you order a proof you will see this text shown on the proof.

Is there a charge for additional lines of text?

With the exception of Stacy Claire Boyd orders, there is no charge for additional lines of text.

If my online preview is correct do I need to order a proof?

When you create and save a preview our typesetters will view it before typesetting your card. If you feel comfortable with your preview, you do not have to order a proof. However, the proof option is available to you always and is strongly suggested for large orders.

Order Processing Options FAQ
What is a proof?
A proof comes in 2 forms. For $22 you can have an emailed or faxed image of how your card will appear when it is printed. This will include your text laid out of the card of your choice, formatted exactly as it would print. For $30, you can receive a hard copy printer's proof sent 2nd Day Air to you. This is your text formatted to fit your selected card printed exactly how your production order will be printed. Once you receive the proof, we encourage you to reply as soon as possible. Your order will not be printed until we hear back from you regarding the proof. Your card's noted processing time will begin after the final proof approval. If changes are needed on the proof, there is no fee to make the changes. However, if an additional proof is required an additional fee of $15.00 may apply. Please note that once you have approved your proof, any inconsistencies with the printed product will be your responsibility.
How soon will I receive my proof?
Proofs are typically emailed or shipped within 1-2 business days after the order is placed. Orders must be received by 2:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on a business day to be considered as an order for that day. Otherwise, the order will be considered "received" on the following business day. Once you receive the proof email or hardcopy, we encourage you to reply to our email as soon as possible. Your order will not be printed until we hear back from you regarding the proof. Your card's noted processing time will begin after the final proof approval.
William Arthur Printing Methods Overview
What are the Different Types of Printing?

NOTE: NOT ALL PRINTING METHODS ARE AVAILABLE FOR ALL ITEMS

FLAT
Technically known as Offset / Lithography, flat printing is recognized by clean edges and a smooth print. Flat printing is recommended for images that are shaded or screened.

THERMOGRAPHY
Freshly printed inks are dusted with a powder compound. The excess powder on the non-printing areas is removed, and the sheet passes under a heater, fusing the ink and powdered compound, and raising the image to simulate the look of engraving. Thermography is not suitable for images that are screened.

MATTE THERMOGRAPHY
Matte thermography uses an alternative powder compound that is not as shiny as standard thermography, resulting in a dull or "matte" look. Matte Thermography is available for all ink colors except metallic inks (Silver, Gold or Copper) . The charge for this is $50 per ink color ordered. Note that when ordering Midnight (a standard black matte ink offering) there is no additional charge.

EMBOSSING
Embossing creates a raised image on the paper, but without ink. Because embossing requires a thicker line to produce a clear impression in the paper, please select Typestyles and Monograms prefaced with an E (example: E-199) or Designs with number followed by [E] (example:0-240[E)), which are suitable for embossing.

LETTERPRESS
The oldest and most versatile method of printing was originally done from cast metal type or plates on which the image or printing areas are raised above the non-printing areas of the plate. Ink touches the top surface of the raised areas; the surrounding (non-printed) areas are lower and do not receive ink. The inked image is transferred directly into the paper. Sometimes a slight embossing appears on the reverse side of the paper. The letterpress image is sharp and crisp.

ENGRAVING
The image is cut or etched into a copper plate. The plate is inked, then the surface is wiped clean, leaving ink only in the depressed (etched) areas of the plate. The paper is forced against the plate with tremendous pressure, drawing the ink from the depressed areas. This produces the characteristic bruised impression on the back of the paper. When se lecting engrav ing as your printing method, prices include the cost of the engrav ing di es. If you send your own engraving die, please deduct $25 per die. All dies will be returned with your order.
